Mian Saif ur Rehman graduated in 1971 followed by success in CSS exam. At a later stage, he also attended two important workshops on National Security and Media at National Defence University (both CSS and NDU courses are comparable with any academic distinction of international standard). Presently he is holding the appointment of Editor Reporting “Daily The News”. He is also “The News” Columnist; his articles have been appearing for four years on Op-Ed page. In addition to that, “The News” also publishes his light vein, popular column “Fair & Square” every week in the Lahore, Islamabad as well as Internet editions. He is also affiliated with Electronic Media, doing Radio Pakistan programs as a Current Affairs Analyst. He has also done scores of Live and Recorded, Urdu and Punjabi programs on Pakistan Television (PTV) as Compere/Moderator and as a participant. He has also been appearing in PTV’s Live English Program via Satellite “This Week”. He is simultaneously functioning as Resident Editor “The Pakistan Times”, Lahore ever since its privatization in 1996 to date. He has written 2800 + editorials. Some of these editorials have been quoted by foreign media.

Born on 10th March, 1952, after securing 36th position in the Central Superior Services examination of 1975, he joined the Federal Government of Pakistan as a First Class Gazetted CSS Officer, and served the Federal Government until he was dismissed in 1982 on politically motivated charges. Though the cases against him were quashed by the Lahore High Court, Lahore with the remarks, published in the News International on 23rd September, 1999, “ the petitioner suffered for about two decades and the situation is highly deplorable and is strongly deprecated”, he did not request the Federal Government of Pakistan for reinstatement, instead he pursued the writing career that he had begun in 1984, with the publication of his first article “WAILS AND WEEPS” in the monthly CONTACT in June 1984. Since then he has regularly and irregularly written in different national dailies; PANOPTICA the book that carries all his English articles up to date is in print. In 1984 his three books, titled PEARLS, BEYOND THE MIST and PURSUIT, on what he calls social philosophy, were published. In 1992 his English poems were published under two titles BURNING SEA and SILENT MELODIES.

In 2002 he started writing columns under the titleship of “Chaltey Chaltey” and his columns regularly published in Daily Khabrain, Daily Express and Daily Din as well. In January 2007 he was appointed Executive Editor of a newly published newspaper Daily Al-Jareeda and in October 2007 he joined Daily Waqt. Qamar is a graduate with Electrical Engineering. Love to read and write, so 1978 he started writing weekly column on the telephone operating system in Akhbar-e-Khawateen, a weekly magazine of the Pakistan Press Trust’s Daily Mashraq, Lahore under the pen name of “Mahmood Anwar Ashi”. In 1982 his articles on telephone operating published in the shape of a book, which was his first book. Later on he became the permanent writer of Hamdard Kutab Khana, Lahore and The Choice Publication, Lahore who published his more than 60 books on different topics. He has the honour, that he wrote technical books in Urdu as well as in English. His several books are published at a time in Urdu and English for the reason that the people who do not able to read and write English language may benefit from Urdu. He is the first ever writer who started writing on Computer Technology and its operation in Urdu in Pakistan and his first book “The Master of Data Processing” was published in 1986 which was also copied in India. He also wrote books for the kids. There are two series of computer books. First one is consists on three (3) books and the other is on eight (8) books, both the series are available in Urdu and English and are for kids specially. He is a good Urdu poet. His several poems and ghazls have been published in the country’s leading newspapers and magazines. He also likes to write on religious, political & current affair’s matter and several articles have also been published in many leading newspapers, magazinesas & websites as well. Munawar Ali Shahid is a law graduate and Human Rights Journalist/Activist.
