The South Asian Columnists’ Council has been established to collect on a single platform the columnists of the South Asian Countries, with the mission to raise the awareness of the two billion inhabitants of the region to the problems confronting them in the shape of poverty, unemployment, disease, illiteracy, and other issues of basic importance including wars and strife, and thus ensure that the coming generations may live in peace and prosperity. There is no doubt that today’s world is the world of media, and it has acquired the ability to bring a change in the minds and lives of the people. Columnists are an important part of the Media. The general opinion about them is that they bring to fore raise the awareness about, and suggest solutions to the social and human problems. Further they also provide food for thought and soul. Effort will be made from the platform of SACC that these providers of food for thought offer the same in an unadulterated pure form, so that a healthy society with a role to play in the history of mankind is Developed.
Today it is required that these pathfinders, keeping in mind the social and national responsibilities, and in view the currently prevalent conditions, should guide the mankind towards a better future.
SACC MISSION, SANCTITY OF THE WRITTEN AND SPOKEN WORD
From the platform of SACC effort will be made to eliminate ethnic, linguistic, tribal, and religious prejudices. Membership of SACC is available to writers who aim at the betterment of humankind before anything else, and have the courage and resolve to face the problems facing mankind and efface despair and pain from earth. From this platform important steps will also be taken to tackle the problems and difficulties of the member journalists.
